I love making DIY gifts with essential oils for the holidays! Handmade gifts at the holidays are a great way to save money and give thoughtful gifts. That being said, November and December can be busy and stressful and it’s easy for time to get away from us. A great way to save time AND money on holiday gifts is to ‘Split A Kit’!
How To Split A Kit
Buy a Premium Starter Kit (which saves you 50% of off the retail price) and give ONE essential oil to each member of your family or your friends. You can even add a little something to make it extra personal or a few DIY ingredients with recipes to make some of their own bath and body goodies.
Lavender– give it to your favorite person in need of good sleep and relaxation. Add a sleep mask and a ½ pint mason jar filled with Epsom salts with a note to add 8 drops of their Lavender essential oil to their Epsom salts for relaxation bath salts.
Peppermint– add a package of gourmet hot cocoa with a note to add a drop of peppermint for the perfect steaming cup of minty hot chocolate.
Lemon – include a glass water bottle for enjoying essential oil infused water
Frankincense – perfect for the meditation or yoga enthusiast in your life, include a yoga block or yoga socks.
Thieves – give to your favorite teacher, perfect for keeping immune system boosted!
Purification – perfect for the dog lover in your life, include a holiday themed dog collar.
DiGize – know a foodie? Maybe they over indulge on occasion – give them the gift of good digestion with DiGize. Include some empty veggie capsules for easy consumption.
Copaiba – gift to your favorite tea drinker. A drop of Copaiba in your tea makes every cup the perfect wellness drink.
R C – a drop of RC on the throat and chest makes for a comforting end to the day, throw in a pair of fuzzy socks for the ultimate end of day coziness.
Panaway – for the athlete, the cubicle dweller, or anyone with joints and muscles. Include a mini bottle of your favorite carrier oil, like Almond oil, and a note to combine a few drops of Panaway with a few drops of carrier oil and massage into neck and shoulders.
StressAway – pop the aromaglide roller fitment from the kit on this bottle and give it to your most stressed out friend, with a note to roll it over wrists and neck.
That’s 11 gifts for only $160, only $14.50 per gift! You can add the extra items, or not, or add different items specific to the recipients – use your imagination!
But wait, what are you going to do with the diffuser? Gift it to someone who needs it, or keep it for yourself, no need to play favorites 😉
I hope that you can see this is a great way to give unique, useful and thoughtful gifts that are truly natural and support your friend and family’s wellness!
Making my own skin care products and health remedies with essential oils is something I really love to do. Sometimes, though, I don’t want to make anything – I just want the benefits of my essential oils! These are the times I’m reminded of how powerful essential oils can be, and that just a drop is all you need. When you want to leave behind the DIY projects with the coconut oil, beeswax, melting pots, veggie capsules, etc – here are some terrific ways to experience the benefits of essential oils with just one drop*!

Diaper rash. Skin irritations. Scrapes and scratches….All things that you baby’s soft and perfect skin will encounter at some point. Up until very recently I used standard diaper rash cream and ‘natural’ baby lotion to address these issues. Unfortunately many of these products, even those labeled ‘natural’, contain harsh chemicals and petroleum products. They also tend to be pretty pricey.
The alternative I’ve started to use is a very simple, 3-ingredient baby balm that can be used for all these things. This balm cleared up my 8 month old baby’s irritated skin in days. Now I slather it on him after every bath. I’ve also used this balm to soothe a scrapped chin which healed up in no time.
Coconut oil – antiviral and antimicrobial properties, moisturizing
Beeswax – antibacterial and antiviral benefits, acts as a barrier and protects skin
Oregano essential oil has many therapeutic uses. It contains strong immune-enhancing properties and supports the respiratory system. Whenever I feel my immune system needs extra support, I immediately take a veggie cap with 4 drops each of Oregano and Thieves essential oils. I’ll also rub a blend of Oregano and Thieves oils mixed with a carrier oil on my feet when colds are hitting friends and family and my immune system could use a little boost. Oregano is one of my go to immune boosting oils, and it is also a great addition to my no-pasta meat sauce! I love a good red meat sauce. We don’t eat grains in our house so we typically have this sauce over spaghetti squash or steamed broccoli. Before using essential oils I made this sauce with regular dried oregano – since adding Oregano essential oil to the sauce, it has become a family favorite. The Oregano essential oil really punches up the flavor and gives it more zest.
Red Meat Sauce with Oregano Essential Oil
2 lbs meat of choice (I like either ground beef, italian pork sausage or a mix of the two)
I love body lotion. It hasn’t been easy to find natural lotion options with ingredient labels I can understand, much less pronounce. I really want to be able to pronounce and understand everything that is in my body products. Especially since the skin is your largest organ and anything that comes into contact with it can potentially make its way into your body. I decided it was time to make my own moisturizer. By combining the uplifting and refreshing oil blend, Joy, with just a couple natural ingredients you can create a simple and enticing body balm.
Joy, has quickly become one of my favorite oils. It is a blend of Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose. Slathering on this Joy Body Balm in the morning elevates my mood and leaves my skin soft and smooth.
Melt the coconut oil and beeswax together in a glass jar placed in a small pot of water. Once completely melted, remove from heat and add Joy essential oil. Stir and pour into a clean glass jar (I like these glass jars). Depending on your climate, the balm may be softer or harder when solidified – coconut oil melts at 76 degrees and the beeswax helps it remain solid. Here in Chicago it is pretty hard, so I use a little cheese knife to scoop it out of the jar.
